LifeStraw really outdid itself with the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter

By our senior writer: Astri Nordlund

I've been wanting to write this piece for a long time. And now I finally get to write the in-depth review of the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter! I, Astri Nordlund, am used to write about fashion, because I have done so for years. You have hopefully seen my articles about the Salvatore Ferragamo Incanto Shine Eau De Toilette, 1.7 Oz by Ferragamo and the COACH Women's Minnie Mouse Messenger Crossbody With Motif ¿Disney x COACH Dk/1941 Red One Size by Coach. I also did a big piece on the Men's Relaxed Fit Straight Leg Flat Front Flex Pant. So you might say I have the know-how to be writing about fashion. So naturally I was very happy when I got this product in the mail!

I've been a fan of LifeStraw products1 for years and I was really looking forward to finally trying the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter and reviewing it for you guys. I found the best deal on this site on Walmart (You can buy the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter here.) and I didn't hesitate a moment. So I reached for my creditcard and bought one straight away. I was glad it had free shipping and 24 hours delivery when I ordered it because I couldn't wait! When my LifeStraw Personal Water Filter arrived the next day I ripped open the packaging and was really happy with what I saw. As I said before I'm a huge LifeStraw enthusiast but I can be very critical and objective too, especially when writing for my readers. :-) After testing it for about a week now I am confident that I have the authority to write this piece. So read on and I will tell you all about my findings and if you should buy this thing.

Best LifeStraw Personal Water Filter deal

I mostly begin with a summary when reviewing fashion, then I write a list of the positive and negative points of the product after which I'll explain my rating and have a conclusion and of course the resources I used writing this article. So as made clear in the previous paragraphs, I am quite fond of the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter. LifeStraw really went all out with this one. The quality is unmatched, and to be honest; it just looks amazing. I know looks aren't the most important aspect of fashion, but it does need to be talked about. And I'm sure it will when more people start to look at this masterpiece. The price alone that Walmart offers was and is by far the lowest, and should be enough reason to grab your wallet so make sure to check them out. I did test a lot of similar products before, I must admit none come even close to the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter. Just the functinality alone leaves all competition in the cold and the quality also proves to be up there. The customer service of LifeStraw2 is known to always be very happy to assist if you have any question so if you ever need them they'll be really tolerant and helpful in looking for a solution. So just a quick recap; only good things to say about the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter. Do finish this article tho because you there is sort of a surprise in the end!

This pros list of the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter could be much longer, and is way longer than the conslist, but the description3 this site has will probably already say it all. Here is just a little piece: "

LifeStraw Personal Water Filter:

  • Filters up to 264 gallons of water
  • Removes 99.9999 percent of waterborne bacteria
  • Removes 99.9 percent of waterborne protozoan parasites
  • Reduces turbidity filtering down to 0.2 microns

  • Uses no iodine or iodized resin
  • Requires no batteries, and has no moving parts
  • Very high flow rate with no after taste
  • Easy to clean and maintain with no shelf life, can be stored indefinitely
". So without further ado, this is the very much incomplete list:
  1. LifeStraw Personal Water Filter
  2. Gallons
  3. WaterRemoves Percent
  4. Waterborne BacteriaRemoves
  5. The amazing looks.
  6. The quality is great.
  7. It is everything it promises to be.
  8. $16.99 is just a steal comparing to the alternatives.
  9. There is no brand like LifeStraw when it comes to fashion.
  10. The durability is very nice, so better for the environment.
  11. In this price range, no other product coming out will be matching the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for a long time to come.

When thinking of cons for the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter I had a way harder time. Sure, lower prices is always better4 and do you really need this premium quality? That's for yourself to decide. Here is the list:

  1. Maybe the way the product looks is not to your taste.
  2. It's a premium product so maybe you don't need this level of quality.
  3. The LifeStraw Personal Water Filter is so popular that soon everybody will have one.

Best LifeStraw product in years

Considering the points above I can only conclude that the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter deserves 5 stars, 10/10 an A+++ and just overall praise5. I've read reviews by people saying that it's a little too perfect and that it doesn't leave room for the competition, but I don't really mind a nice monopoly. And LifeStraw sure is heading to become one with this product!

Verdict and Conclusion

In conclusion, my verdict is that the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter really will make your life more fun and just better altogether. (And did I mention the resale value6 of LifeStraw products?) I've done my utmost to view this thing from all possible angles in this piece but I see it sounds all very positive. So please read some more reviews, and you'll see that it's not me that is so enthusiast. So let me just say is that I fully, fully, recommend the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter for now and the future until LifeStraw will come up with its successor. And if you are still hesitating whether you want this new LifeStraw Personal Water Filter. Walmart really has a great deal on it now. They have the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter on sale HERE for the record low of $16.99. But enough reading. Just go get it and admire your very own, very new LifeStraw Personal Water Filter!

Bad to the Bone ~ Great

Love it ~ easy to operate and makes a ton of clean water ~

Improvement to Life Straw idea

Instead of laying down and drinking through a straw this allows you to fill the bag and drink standing up or while walking. You can use a standard water bottle instead of the bag that comes with it because it has standard threads. You can also attach a straw and use it exactly like a life straw. Finally, you can attach this to the drink tube from most bladders for use with unfiltered water. Sawyer filters, this one included, can be back flushed with clean water. Making Sawyer filters capable of lasting for years instead of one time use. I downgraded Durability because a long term filter should come in a stronger case. If you ever need this device, it would be disaster to find a connector snapped off.

Love this inexpensive low weight option

I purchased the Sawyer Mini for a week adventure in the wilderness. It works great for one or two people. For more than that I would probably get a Katadyn Hiker Water Filter. In my experience where streams were clear and lakes were clean, the Mini did a great job of filtering, albeit a bit slow as all water filters tend to be. I paired it up with a Platypus 2 liter bottle for filling my water bottles. By placing the Platypus on my thigh and squeezing it with a forearm my hands were free to hold a bottle and direct the filtered water... one man operation. You could also fill any old used empty water bottle from a gas station or grocery store, screw on the Mini and drink from the filter directly. Since I was filling for more than one person I avoided that option. You could also place it inline on a water bladder. But I like to know that either my water bottles or water bladder are always "clean" so I prefer to only dirty the Platypus and fill my other containers. I have used the iodine pills with the iodine neutralizers and they work good too, but this is a nice economical option if you don't want to mess with chemicals or wait for the chemicals to work. For backpackers the Mini and an empty Platypus bottle weight next to nothing. Walmart had the best price too.

Perfect size. Very compact and has amazing water flow for minimal squeezing! The bag isn't huge but the filter attaches to a 1 liter smart water bottle just fine [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great filter, light and small.

Used this little filter on a backpacking trip into the High Uinta Wilderness. It was very light weight, and packed very small. We filtered stream and lake water with no ill effects and no chemical taste. In fact my son and I agreed it was the best tasting water we've ever had. My only complaint was the squeeze bag. 1 way to use this item is to fill the squeeze pouch with dirty water and either dispense into you bottle or drink directly from the filter. The bag/pouch is very durable and advertises "16 fl oz". The down side is that the bag is too durable. Even with a flowing stream we could only ever get the pouch to fill up half way, under 8oz of water at a time. It made refilling a 1 liter bottle take about 5 or 10min. The concept and use of the bag works great, it just wasn't as big as I would've liked. I do think, however, that Sawyer sells larger bags and before my next backpacking trip I'll probably buy one. I liked the way it worked very much, I just wanted more volume. Another alternative I might use, is to find a standard water bottle that has a neck/thread size that will fit (1liter smartwater comes to mind). That way I can just dunk it into the dirty water, screw on the filter and straw, and drink right from the filter. Overall, for the price, it is a VERY good deal. I will probably purchase a 2nd filter for my son and would highly recommend it. 4 out 5 stars due to the too rigid squeeze pouch. And to be honest, if I could give it 4.5 out 5, I would.
